Asia Argento and Ashton Whitty

Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family which includes directors and actors, worked in both areas. In 1985 she debuted in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, Michele Soavi's The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played in the role of Cristina Comencini's Zoo. Then, in 1989, she portrayed Nanni Moretti's (also directed) daughter in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends (written and directed by Michele Placido) was when Asia's acting career truly started to blossom. Her roles went from young roles and then becoming mature. The film received an enthusiastic review in the Cannes International Film Festival. She has made three films with her dad, Trauma, The Stendhal syndrome and Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom of the Opera The film, made together with her late father and is the final of three films she's worked on. The other two were Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni employed her deeply absorbed and intense manner of acting in Condannato, a nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot and she also played an important part. In 1995 Asia worked with Michel Piccoli to produce Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion, for which she received a prize from David di Donatello. Asia started to direct short films in 1994. The two she directed were Prospettive in 1996. She directed a document about her father, and Abel/Asia from 1998. Both focused on the cult film director Abel Ferrara. This latter was awarded at the Rome Film Festival. Asia began her directorial debut as a feature film in 1999. It was Scarlet Diva (2000). She was also the main actress, and the author of the film's script. The film premiered globally in the month of May. The film was honoured at the Williamsburg Festival in Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou was born in 2001, after having directed a few music videos. The year 2002 saw Asia appear as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's thriller action The Action. Asia has also written a few short stories that have been published by many magazines.
